Redemption of Hippie trail

The United States and Australia already legalized Marijuana. Some of the National newspapers are deliberately raising the issue and putting a pressure on government to legalize it here in Nepal also. Every fortnight there are either interviews of some Aurvedic professors talking about medicinal values of Marijuana or wise souls giving the data on how many patents we lost as they were already registered by westerners or even some botanists giving us knowledge on better quality of highland weeds with their scientific names and shapes.

Cannabis sativa. Cannabis landraces. Cannabis indica. Cannabis Nepalese. Cannabis Nepalese dragon.

I still remembered my childhood classmate, Sohanlal. In dew seasons, right after Dashain and Tihar, I usually witnessed him running through his father’s farm in a thin underwear.
‘Don’t repeat the same course! Don’t fall!’ His father constantly shouted while poor chap ran through the thick bushes of sacred and secret crops hidden from the world by vast maize field.
Half an hour would have passed easily and panting for a breath Sohanlal would be standing by his father. Uncle would have used his blunt knife to extract as much the resin from his son’s skin as possible.
‘It is expensive. You know hippies? They like it so much.’ Whipping red spots in his skin with local butter he would have explained me later. Though we both were unaware of the product and its effect we enjoyed our naive conversations. Probably few more coins what he pocketed were enough to buy us more Singadas! Or rather marbles!

And now, it seems that in no time Nepal will legalize Marijuana.

Once grass will be legal, how can running a naked boy in that grassland will be illegal?

So, Uncle will be here.

Sohanlal will be here.

Grass will be here.

Cannabis resin will be here.

Hash will be here.

Overland trail was just tested by outgoing German Ambassador.

Jhonchhe is still called Freak Street.

Monkey temple is still a popular habitat for primates.

Why Hippie era not to revamp?
